The Healing Hands studio outside of Gallup is a work therapy program that is connected to a treatment facility and homeless shelter. The Southwest Indian Foundation has been a long supporter of this self help home that literally saves lives.
A master potter works closely with those in the recovering community to draw out innate creative skills. Through this school of healing, the resident both salves the wounds of being homeless and a life of hardship, but learns valuable skills to create beautiful works of art. These pieces are not ceramic, but hand coiled from the clay of the New Mexico earth.
