The Grandmother Kachina, also known as Mother Earth, is the mother of all kachinas. Her doll is often given to the very young as a first gift. Her colorful personality allows her the opportunity to offer food to the children and then pour water over their heads as a blessing for a happy life. Hand-carved from aspen and fixed on a cedar pedestal, this spectacular Kachina is hand-painted down to the smallest detail and adorned with rabbit fur and deerskin.
